Always Procrastinating? Here Are 5 Unique Ways to Stay Motivated

There has to be a reason you came to this blog today. Let’s guess…you want to become the best version of yourself because you see everyone on social media miraculously revamping their lives? Well then, this article was made just for you. As a result of the many distractions that teenagers face, it can be hard to stay motivated. So if you’ve tried and feel like giving up, keep reading for some unique tips.

But…. If you have gray hair and pay a mortgage, then get out of here, this is for the teenagers who have issues because they sure do have a lot of them.

1. What can you look forward to today?

Being productive every day can be exhausting and overwhelming. That is why it is essential to have something to look forward to. If you plan to work out and study throughout the day, you could look forward to enjoying your favourite dessert after dinner or writing in your journal before bed. It is important to note that your ‘something to look forward to’ should not be a person, as relationships can change. Instead, rely on something consistent. This approach will help you to overcome motivation obstacles and stay inspired.

2. Remember why you started

Take a moment to define everything you want to achieve in life. Once you have done that, list the steps necessary to reach those goals. These steps should be ingrained in your mind or, even better, written on a sticky note for easy reference. Remember, your goals are within reach, but they require action. Do you think you are going to ace that test if you keep on choosing to go on your phone instead of studying? Do you think you will earn that sports award if you always show up late to soccer practice? Whenever you feel a drop in motivation, look at those steps and remind yourself that they are critical to your success. If you want to succeed and break your procrastination cycle, now is the time to take charge and make it happen!

3. Find people in similar situations

Self-doubt is a common experience that many face, especially teenagers who may experience teasing and insecurities. While it can be helpful to find someone going through the same situation as you, it is even better to connect with someone who has already overcome those challenges. Thanks to social media, finding inspiring individuals is easier than ever. Whenever you feel unsure of yourself, take a moment to browse through social media to see how others have persevered through similar struggles. Many successful people started small, and numerous businesses began with a single vision. Social media is a remarkable tool—leverage it to find proof that you can achieve your dreams and then take decisive action to turn those dreams into reality.

4. Set a time when you can stop being productive

Being productive is great, but it is important to know when to relax as well. Establishing a designated time each day for relaxation is necessary for maintaining a healthy, balanced life. A good choice for this winding-down period is around 7:00 PM. Once the clock strikes 7, you can start cleaning up your area. This means tidying up your workspace, such as gathering your pencils and organizing your notes. By setting this boundary, you build a strategy that will help you maintain your motivation and inspiration. Think of it like a structured work shift; by tricking your mind into adhering to this set time, you cultivate a disciplined routine. This method allows you to harness your energy more effectively, ensuring you can enjoy your evenings free from the pressure of unfinished tasks, ultimately setting the stage for a more rejuvenated and focused mindset for the following day.

5. Remember your paste accomlishments

Is this the hardest obstacle you’ve had to overcome? Return to a time in your life when you can recall the most difficult thing you’ve ever faced and what you did to overcome it. If you were successful in the past, tell yourself that anything is possible and that you can find the motivation to keep going. If you were unable to overcome it, consider all of the small victories you have achieved in your life. Consider your thinking at the time. Remember that mindset, seek it out, and develop an even better one.

Believing that you can conquer something is only half the battle, as staying on course sheds most of the work. Finding motivation when you don’t feel up to doing anything can be difficult, but it is indeed very common. Everyone goes through phases of feeling unmotivated, and it’s important to know that you are not lazy or broken; you just need to find strategies to keep going. Feeling tired is valid; feeling that you are not strong enough is valid; and feeling like you would rather watch Netflix than finish that essay is valid. Using these five tips to push past those urges is the true battle that you can indeed overcome.
